Summer Episode I: May to June

I think we've finally managed to build up enough to share to warrant a blog post. Or maybe three?

A few days after Noah's birthday Alex decided to cut a hole in the wall to open up the unused space under our stairs. Noah has been very excited to help from the beginning. In the included picture, Alex had just started cutting the hole. Noah noticed he was working over there and quickly ran to get his stud finder (Noah inherited Alex's old stud finder that doesn't work very well for its intended purpose, but makes a great toy) so he could help. Work on "the space" (a.k.a. the Harry Potter closet) to install lots of wiring and to re-route other wiring and plumbing pipes consumed much of Alex's spare time during June.

At the end of May we took a drive to St. Louis where we were joined by Wendy and her kids. We had a great weekend going to the zoo and enjoying not worrying about Noah since Eva took such good care of him.

During June Noah also had his first visit to the doctor for an actual illness and not just for a routine check-up. He had pink eye and a bit of an ear infection. He also had the thrilling experience of having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics they prescribed for him initially.

Finally, here are some of the funny things he said during that time period:

“We want to go pick up sticks. We want to go pick up sticks and make a BIG fire.”

I was trying to convince him to come to the mailbox with me one afternoon. He told me he didn’t want to go. I asked if he was going to be sad and cry if I went without him. He responded, “Babies have to cry.” (He did end up coming with me though.)

Alex had just gotten home from work and was hurrying to eat some dinner before we left for our ward picnic. Noah climbed up on the chair next to him and said “We want to go to the park, said Daddy.” He often likes to feed us our lines this way.

During Sacrament Meeting today Noah took notice of the buttons on Alex’s suit coat. He then proceeded to tell us about it in the form of a song “A button, a button, Jesus wants me for a button...” Which transitioned to “Jesus wants me for a sun-button” and eventually back to sunbeam.

Those cheeks need pinching. Like for reals. And I love the grin in the pink eye picture - it's so Noah. He's such a funny, cute kid. :)
