The garden has recently gone crazy and a bunch of yummy stuff is ready to eat. We've been getting cherry tomatoes and zucchini for a while now and we've already eaten all of our potatoes (it wasn't a huge patch to start with) but now we're getting big tomatoes, grapes and some REALLY weird cucumbers. We're starting to wonder if the cucumbers cross pollinated with either the zucchini or the summer squash (which died before it was ripe - bummer) because these are no ordinary cucumbers. We grow cucumbers to pickle but still, they are WEIRD. The grapes are small but the flavor is wonderful. Also, a few have started to shrivel on the vine and the raisins that result are even better! So at least we know what to do with the surplus we can't eat fast enough. We also got a flower on the banana tree!! Unfortunately it was the worst time of year because of the heat and the would-be bananas are now shriveled up little nubs. Sigh. Enjoy the pictures!

Those are definitely the weirdest cucumbers I've ever seen. We still haven't gotten our proper garden put in yet. The Harry Potter closet was just too distracting. :) We do have a big pile of dirt in the back leftover from various yard projects that involved digging. Alex buried our Halloween pumpkins back there and they started growing. Then one day Noah told us he had found a pumpkin! We have two now that are really small and probably won't make it until October, but it was a fun surprise.

We planted the grapes just over a year ago, March of 2012. We got one small (reeeally small) crop of grapes in the fall - about 10 tiny bunches of really teeny grapes. We mostly let the birds have them but we ate a few. Each of the grapes was about the size of a pea, so pretty tiny.
It's one of the best things about Phoenix: 2 growing seasons. :)
Those cucumbers do look odd! We have also had some odd looking veggies grow. I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of your grapes, I would love to have grapes but haven't put the time and effort into it yet. We do have a fabulously LARGE garden again, but we had to put it in rather late due the the late frosts we received here, so strawberries are the only thing we have harvested as of yet.
