In case any of you were wondering if you should have a 2-story foyer, and a ridiculously high chandelier, the answer is "no". Here's why:

When your sweet, (not-so) innocent almost-7-year-old girl flies her meticulously-decorated paper airplane into said chandelier, it is difficult to retrieve. Her response was "The airplane flies where it flies. I can't help it." No denial there.

Avoiding the use of the extension ladder at all costs, Glen tried to blow the airplane off the lamp with a hairdryer and a standing fan. No luck. Alyssa said, "Do paper and light burn? Because then I'll have to make a new plane." Okay.
And then, a stroke of genius. We like to call said genius "Glengenuity". Notice the use of duct tape and a spare 2 x4 (why, again, do we have that?). *

I knew that we let Glen watch MacGyver for a reason. We have teased him about the duct tape for years, but it does come in handy.
Thanks for the fun pictures and story.
